Understanding the EMFF

20 July 2012

November 12th / 13th 2014

  • The EMFF is the fund for the EU's maritime and fisheries policies for 2014-2020 and replaces the EFF as the main branch of EU fisheries subsidies [1]
  • It is one of the five European Structural and Investment (ESI) Funds which complement each other and seek to promote a growth and job based recovery in Europe.

As we come to the end of the EFF and start the new EMFF financial mechanism for fisheries subsidies within the EU, we find ourselves at a transition point. For this reason we hosted a workshop bringing together NGOs, regulators and representatives of the fishing industry to identify opportunities for collaborative projects funded, in part, by the EMFF. Presentations for both days are available on request and have been sent to participants.
